Sir,
I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of Your
Excellency's despatch No. 36 of the 15th of February, regarding
the registration with the League of Nations of the Agreements of
the 3rd of December, 1925, amending and supplementing the Articles
of Agreement for a Treaty between Great Britain and Ireland
signed in London on the 6th of December, 1921.
2. His Lajesty's Government hope that an opportunity may
arise at the Imperial Conference to be held in the Autumn of
the present year of discussing the principle involved in this
question. In the meantime, they are reminding the Secretary
General of the League of Nations of their view that the terms
of Article 18 of the Covenant of the League are not applicable
to the Articles of Agreement of the 6th December, 1921, and
are stating that the same view is held ag regards the
Supplementary Agreement.
3. His Majesty's Government are communicating copies of this correspondence to the Governments of Canada, the Commonwealth of Australia, New Zealand, the Union of South Africa, and India.
